Watercolours

I love the soft and gentle nature of watercolours.

Beside the Tree Stump Watercolour on Paper

A dark area beside a tree stump becomes a magical place for a mushroom to grow. This little beauty made the most bland spot turn enchanted.

Deep Forest Watercolour on paper

Available as a limited edition print on paper.

While hiking in the Kananaskis, I came across these wild strawberry leaves during their Autumn changes. I was inspired by the gentle colour combination and elegant shapes as these plants are slowly easing their way into their winter slumber.

The Waikato Watercolour on paper

Available in two sizes as a limited edition print on paper.

The painting depicts the Royal New Zealand Navy's (RNZN) ship, the HMNZS Waikato (F55) that was a Leander Batch 2TA frigate. Beginning its service in 1966, HMNZS Waikato was decommissioned from the RNZN in 1998 and sunk off the coast of Tutukaka New Zealand on 18 December 2000 as an artificial reef.

My husband served on the Waikato in the RNZN before we met.

The Southland Watercolour on Paper

Available as a limited edition print on paper.

Initially, this Leander-class frigate entered service in the Royal Navy’s HMS Dido in 1961. It was also one of four ships used as fictional frigates in the 1970s BBC television drama series Warship. In 1981 it was sold to the Royal New Zealand Navy and became the HMNZS Southland. She was decommissioned in 1995 and as with many, sold for parts. However, the memories of those who served on her during her time at sea are no doubt good ones.
