Arrival of the Buffalo Beans

from CA$88.00

A common plant called the buffalo bean in southern Alberta, Saskatchewan and Montana which blooms in May and June was an important traditional indicator for the commencement of the Spring hunt. The Blackfoot called this plant Wudzi-eh-kay or buffalo flower. The arrival of its blossoms was a sign the buffalo bulls were in prime condition to hunt.

Buffalo Beans are a sign of abundance marking the time to hunt for Indigenous peoples. This led me to think what does this mean for myself in symbolical spiritual sense? I am a “symbol-hunter” when I read stories, watch shows or view art and love to discover secret signs the author provides the attentive viewer. This flower breaking through a mountain of shale does not allow this barrier to cripple its growth. A wonderful idea to embrace for ourselves as we grow and learn to push through obstacles to achieve our own inner prosperity.
